Never Grow Up

Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
No one’s ever burned you, nothing’s ever left you scarred
And even though you want to, just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother’s favorite songs
I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone

-Taylor Swift
Yes, I just posted lyrics by t-swift. Why is everyone in such a hurry to grow up? When you’re young, all you want to do is cut those strings tied to your parents and just be on your own, free to make decisions, and old enough to handle tough situations. It’s so sad that twelve year old girls are dressing like they’re twenty, trying to reach that magazine pretty. I think if you have a good sense of family and strong values, it’s easier to remember how to prioritize. I guess you can’t appreciate that when you’re so young because in the moment, all you want to do is go out and be with friends. In the end, the closest tie you’ll have is with someone who shares your blood.
Hold on to your innocence.

  1. i just looked this song made me really sad thinking about how i'm completely missing out on my life cuz i'm too worried about growing up and moving on.

  2. A beautifully written piece mashallah. Also very true, when young we wish to be older and once we get herewe'd do anything to go back to those days of innocence.
